Cloud computing – not without risk?

Interesting quote from Sharepoint Best Practices Conference :” 17% of IT Pros think benefits of cloud computing outweigh the risks”!!
That’s not too encouraging is it?
Few other points:-
Not all computing resources should reside on the cloud anyway.
It’s not always cost effective?!!
Do your homework before making the move.

It is an interesting debate. When you do move, do you take the ‘furniture’ with you? What’s happens if your servers/databases are full of customisation ???

I’ll be interested to find out your views on this magical, mythical cloud!!!

I think this is still such an immature, and unknown field. So many people think of cloud computing as something new, but how many companies using some hosting service for their web sites? How many use DropBox/Skybox/Box.net/etc to share files? How many file taxes online?

There was a lot of resistance to outsourcing your web or even data center a decade ago and much of that concern has been diminished over time. How many people thought Salesforce.com was a horrible idea and security risk a decade ago?
