Every day for the next couple of weeks, I aim to highlight one of SQL Server 2008’s new features, simply for awareness. You can then go away and research the area and report back to me, we’ll then discuss how these new features can benefit us all.

Transparent Data Encryption
Enable encryption of an entire database, data files, or log files, without the need for application changes. Benefits of this include: Search encrypted data using both range and fuzzy searches, search secure data from unauthorized users, and data encryption without any required changes in existing applications.
Is SQL Server finally becoming as secure as its Oracle equivalent? Thats a debate in itself !

Ah yes - maybe one day our friends at Microsoft will have a radical change of thought and allow us access to all these new features in ALL versions ! - Then again isn't there more chance of England winning the World Cup this year?
