Midlands PASS Chapter - August 2, 2007
2007/07/31"Database Professional Toolkit" with Brian and Jeremy
Midlands PASS Chapter - August 2, 2007 Meeting
Sponsored by Red Gate Software
The Midlands PASS Chapter is pleased to announce our first member-led "Database Professional Toolkit" which features our own members demonstrating tools they use with SQL Server. These presentations aren't sales pitches but rather how we use these tools to do our jobs. I'll be demonstrating some of the Red Gate tools and we'll be giving away a free copy of the newest version of Red Gate's SQL Compare Pro. Red Gate has also sent a lot of swag including branded t-shirts and thumb drives. Jeremy Brown will be demonstrating Microsoft Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals (aka "Data Dude"), to include any changes introduced in Service Release 1.
As a bit of background, I've been using Red Gate tools since 2000-2001 when I first started using Red Gate's SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare. I've also used SQL Prompt (and PromptSQL before Red Gate purchased it) and we use SQL Backup at AgFirst. Jeremy has used "Data Dude" from the time it was available as a Community Technology Preview (CTP) both at Transamerica and in his current role as a SQL Server DBA with the OnDemand Risk group at Wachovia (Charlotte). We'll show you what we do with these applications in an open discussion with the group at large as we know others use them, too. If you're looking for new tools for your toolkit or want to learn ways in which others are using the tools you already own, you'll want to attend.
The Midlands PASS Chapter meeting will again be held at Training Concepts (http://www.trainingconcepts.com/), located at 250 Berryhill Road, Suite 502, here in Columbia, SC. As always, if you haven't done so already, please RSVP if you are attending so we can ensure that we have enough refreshments and seats. There is a code to get into the building if you arrive after 6 PM which I'll provide a day or two before the meeting.
If you know someone who would be interested in hearing this talk, please feel free to pass on this email to them.
