March/April 2006 Edition of SQL Server Standard Available
2006/04/03The March/April 2006 edition of SQL Server Standard magazine is now
available. This issue focuses on Transact-SQL for SQL Server 2005.
Though I normally focus on the security side of things, I was able to
get an article in on Common Table Expressions and Recursion. I used an
example from an old intranet web application I had developed in the
days before document management systems like SharePoint and others
became available, back in 2000. I still remember deploying the
application to NT 4.0 systems running IIS 4.0 and SQL Server 7.0. That
seems like ages ago giving how both IIS, Microsoft web development
technologies, and SQL Server have developed over the years. Having the
use of CTEs and recursion back then would have simplified some of the
coding but it wasn't available back then.
