This question of the day didn’t turn out well at all – required too big a leap the way it was written to get to the key answer. Four were easy, one was not. I confused the issue with a less than great trigger – not deliberately, sadly. The lesson – learning it again – it to think about what assumptions I’m asking them to make to get to the right answer and whether those assumptions are realistic. That’s hard, because I know the angles of the question. It’s also an illustration that it’s not the easiest thing in the world to take a lesson learned at work and convert it to a good question. The associated discussion is really good. They do give me some grief (deserved), but more it’s helpful feedback. One more reason I think QOD’s are good writing practice.
