SQLAndy

I'm Andy Warren, currently a SQL Server trainer with End to End Training. Over the past few years I've been a developer, DBA, and IT Director. I was one of the original founders of SQLServerCentral.com and helped grow that community from zero to about 300k members before deciding to move on to other ventures.

Picking a Conference Venue

I was reading about the American Association of Woodturners annual symposium that will be held in Tampa this year (and yes, I plan to attend) and ran across this document that describes their process for picking a site each year. It’s not an equation, but here is the opening section that drives it:

“The Board shall schedule National Symposia in a pattern that traverses the geographic United States from year to year, such that AAW members in different regions of the country will have an opportunity to attend this event at least once every five years without having to travel a great distance. The Board shall endeavor to schedule symposia sites at least three years in advance.”

Don’t we wish PASS had that as a policy?
