I was one of the original founders of SQLServerCentral.com and helped grow that community from zero to about 300k members before deciding to move on to other ventures.

Here is something else that started in Florida (doesn’t everything?), a series of events along the lines of Code Camp and SQLSaturday for IT professionals called IT Pro Camps. It’s a group that has been way under served and I hope this will be the start of changing that. There is one coming up in Orlando on January 21, 2012, and the call for speakers closes on December 5th. I’m planning to attend, and hopefully will have a presentation selected.

It will be interesting to see if grows. It’s a slightly different approach from SQLSaturday, using WordPress for the core site and event sites, but using EventBrite for registration. Nice hybrid.

Thanks for the plug and I look forward to your presentation. BTW -- we should have site a redesign based on WP by the end of year.
