Final Prep for the 2011 Summit

,

I’m running through my mental (and some written) pre-travel checklist, tickets, clothes, a few odds and ends, trying to be reasonably ready for the the evening flight to Seattle on Saturday. I’m also looking at my schedule and thinking about what I really want to do. I have some PASS commitments, some personal commitments, and for the first time in a long time, I’ll also have work commitments.

Most years I’ve had the luxury of calling it training and just being on call, or treating it as a vacation, but this year I’ve got a number of projects in flight that I can’t just ignore for a week. I’m hoping that just doing the daily 15 min status call (5:45 am in Seattle!), checking email a couple times a day and the odd phone call will do it, but I’m guessing that it won’t be enough every day. I’m ok with that, the trick is to deal with those ‘interruptions’ without it becoming stressful, and trying not to miss out on the things I most want to do.

I’m sure I won’t be the only one doing that kind of juggling!
