Naked Conversations

,

Sorry, I couldn't help not including 'Book Review' on the subject line, hopefully you're not too disappointed!

I just finished reading Naked Conversations: How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers (Hardcover). It's a couple years old now, but still interesting and a lot of ideas for bloggers to ponder. It does focus a lot on the impact of the blogosphere on business and while it's hard to dispute that there has been some impact from blogs, I question how many blogs remain effective over time. Yes, we have the occasional blog storm of protest that seems effective, but doesn't it make a difference only when that feeds back into the main stream press? It's worth reading, especially for the coverage on how to handle corporate blogging.

The question of effective blogs (my question, not the books) is interesting. For example, how many blogs in the SQL Server space are influential? I need to think on how I define influential, so we'll revisit that in an upcoming post. Until then, take a look at your list of SQL blogs - who do you read, why, and how effective/consistent are they?
