A Differential backup contains all the changes made to the database since the last full backup.

A Transaction log backup contains all the changes made since last full/diff/t-log backup.

A transaction log backup contains all the changes made since the last transaction log backup. The only time that a transaction log backup contains the transactions back to a full/diff is when that's the very first transaction log backup after the log chain was broken and reestablished.
