File System Task working until all of a sudden - access to path denied

  • Hi there

Been running this package for more than a year, now all of a sudden getting this error in a for each loop container

[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path 'U:\Selections FOPL\HC Proms' is denied.".

This is off a network drive, i am running this from BIDS not via the agent, i have permission on the network to copy the file (this is a copy not a move) and can access the file... this is driving me crazy, even if i copy the file on to my local drive and point to it i get this error.

    any ideas??:w00t:

  • Look at the ACL's on the file

  • I've had unexpected problems with the File System task in the past. In the end, I threw in the towel and wrote a bit of script in a script task instead. Just two or three lines of code is usually all you'll need.

  • I have read/write/execute and modify permissions which is all i need to copy

  • what a pain! was it also working fine for you and then suddenly?

No - mine was stuffed from the start 🙂

  • I understand your frustration, I encounter this a month ago anyway I solved it by downloading Long Path Tool.

Can you elaborate on that please? I'm not sure what that is.
