Backup strategy

  • Hai

My Backup strategy is sunday Fullbackup, weekdays Diff Backup & every 1-hour T-Logbackup on My production ENV.

My Query is that: monday 8.00Pm i taken the T-Logbackup,

my database was DAMAGED @8.30Pm on monday.

what should i do for getting between 8.00pm to 8.30pm Tranactions & how can i get the DATABASE on Original STATE(Online) ?

    Subha.......

  • How was the database damaged? If you still have access to the transaction log and can complete a tail log backup, using the most current full backup and the all the log files created after the full backup, you could recover upto the point of failure? If you can't run a tail log backup, then you will loss the data entered since the last transaction log backup.

You can also include the most current differential backup in this scenerio as well: restore full backup, restore most current differential backup, restore all t-log backups since last differential backup.

  • Lynn is correct. If you cannot backup the tail of the log (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179314.aspx), you can't recover that data from 8:00 on.

    I think you'd restore

    - Sun full

    - Mon diff

    - Mon log backups after diff until 8pm
