Hi,

I have simple pie chart for which I want to specify the colours used.
I have tried entering an expression in data, edit values, appearance , series style, fill and then colour but it doesn't work.

The fill pick colour in series properties should be get to automatic.
Try using the expression function there.

Seems to work fine, rename this .txt file to .rdl for an example

Check the "Custom Chart Color Palettes and Legends" section in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964128(v=sql.90).aspx
