I think it is important to constantly look to reevaluate a small percentage of habits. It would be better if what is reevaluated changes so that everything is reassessed over time. But to do it all at the same time would be too much for most of us.

Once SQL Server started to support the ANSI 92 join logic with v6.5, I switched. the old style was just too difficult to follow the logic.

The more you are prepared, the less you need it.
