Hi, I'm attempting to install a default instance of mssql2k8 on server 2k8. This server already had a named instance installed which is working perfectly. However, I'm attempting to install a default instance and encountered errors during my original install. I then attempted to compeltely uninstall the default installation that failed and start over. However, during the next run through of the installation the installer detects the previous default instance that was just un-installed.

does anyone know of a way to completely remove any remnants of the previous installation attempt. I've checked the registry but don't see anything obvious that stands out. Non of the previous services show as being installed and if I look in the un-installer the default instance doesn't show. Any help would be appreciated.
