Hi Vishal
Can we configure for a 3-node cluster [N1, N2, N3] a sql instnace on N1 failing to N3 and an analysis server instance on N2 failing to N3.
I guess this a wierd solution. Some one was wanting to use this configuratuion. is it possible. Is it manadatory to have a sql instance on the same machines as the analysis server?
Thet syill need two licenses.
Why not use the three machines and use active-passive-passive configuration for the sql and analysis servers.

To have more than 2 nodes in a SQL Cluster you need SQL Server Enterprise Edition.
You can definitly have it on it's own node. We have a client that has a dedicated Analysis Services server, with only those services required for Analysis Services installed. Since Analysis Services is cluster aware you should be able to have it on a node and configure this to fail over to another node on failure.
Cheers
Leo
