DUMP is a desupported feature, and Microsoft plans on removing it, why would anyone be wanting to learn this now?

Dump is gone in SQL 2008.

Yes, and have already forgotten the statement, since it has been desuported, but it he did not specify which version, so he fooled me :)

Thank you all for all your comments....

This is my first post QOD to Sql server central...We have some sql server 2000 setup which we migrated from older version (I know its wierd but its true). I was working on it and found this intrested info so thought it could help someone (Sorry if i disappointed )... I know its old I thought to make it "Backup Log" than to make it complex made it "Dump" Which will not be their in Sql server 2008 (but good to know that this was their Smile

)...

Will try to improve my self.

Backup log ... with truncate_only is also gone in SQL 2008.

The BOL reference after the explanation doesn't help at all, as it doesn't refer the dump command. Anyway, even in SQL 2000 the dump command was deprecated, MS recommended that it be not used, and of course in the latest SQL Server it is no longer supported. The question would have been far better written using backup log instead of dump transaction.
