Many thanks for an excellent set of articles.

  • Hi Adam

Many thanks for these excellent articles. My eyes have been opened to the power that these techniques will give us in the project I am currently working on.

I do seem to have an issue though. I've created an assembly (happens to be C#) and have deployed it in the 2 places you stated in the article (IE: The ReportServer directory and the Visual Studio IDE Private Assemblies directory). Everything works perfectly with Visual Studio (BIDS) when previewing a report and I can merrily change database config options and they are very nicely reflected in the preview on next run.

I was feeling extremely pleased at how easy it all was to put together, however, as soon as I deploy the report to the report server the config is not being picked up. If I delete the DLL from the ReportServer directory the report fails as I would expect, so I'm sure I've put it in the right place, but I've run SQL Profiler and can see that no calls are being made to the stored procedure.

It may well be something that I've done wrong along the way, and I will keep looking, but wondered if there was some magic you had to perform to get the plumbing just right.

    Kind Regards,

    Martin
