  • Based on the interviews with Brad McGehee, do you consider yourself an accidental DBA?

  • Sorry, these aren't published yet. I don't have a good way to get the poll set prior to publishing other than put it out there.

    Patience.

  • Shouldn't the vote choices actually be Accidental or Intentional? I would say incidental and accidental are more or less the same where someone becomes a DBA out of necessity whereas an intentional DBA becomes one out of want.

  • Looks like a typo to me as well.

  • Is should be Accidental vs. Intentional DBA.

  • I am an accidental DBA who intends to become a recognised one.

    If that makes sense!

  • Yes, that makes a lot of sense. In fact, that is why I wrote the book, "How to Become an Exceptional DBA". You can download the PDF version of the book free from this website.

  • Thanks Brad,

I actually downloaded and perused that very document after you recommended it to me at SQLBits!

That, and your presentation from SQLBits that you kindly sent to me are providing much food for thought

  • Hmm. Yeah, I was an intentional DBA, but I'd hate to vote Incidental if Steve really meant incidental. @=)
