I have SQL Server 2005 developer edition in my laptop. I installed SQL Server 2008 (July CTP) and Visual Studio 2008. Now SQL Server 2005 developer edition, SQL Server 2008 (July CTP) and Visual Studio 2008 working fine.
I update Visual Studio 2008 with Visual Studio 2008 SP1. Now my SQL Server 2005 is working fine, but SQL Server 2008 (July CTP) is not working.
I uninstalled my SQL Server 2008 (July CTP) and installed again. At the time of installation its not installing Client Tools as well as Integration Services.
I thought SQL Server 2005 is not allowing to install SQL Server 2008. At this time I uninstalled SQL Server 2005 developer edition as well as SQL Server 2008 (July CTP).
Now I tried to install SQL Server 2008 (July CTP) again. Same problem I am facing. I tried nearly 5 times.
Could anybody suggest me a solution for this.
..Ramesh

First, stop using the CTP. It's not supported and RTM has been released. Move to that. Likely it's a VS2008 conflict somewhere, which is why I'd say move to RTM.
I'd also consider moving to VMs for this stuff. Set up one with Windows and each version of SQL, installing VS in each one as well. You can fire them up as needed and they'll prevent weird conflicts.
Virtual PC is free to use here.

Agree with other posters here but more specifically on the VS problem, it's likely because SP1 is a requirement. I've seen this from time to time, upgrading your VS installation to SP1 fulfils the prerequisite for 2008 R2 installation.

Note to developers:
CAST(SUBSTRING(CAST(FLOOR(NULLIF(ISNULL(COALESCE(1,NULL),NULL),NULL)) AS CHAR(1)),1,1) AS INT) == 1
So why complicate your code AND MAKE MY JOB HARDER??!
