SQL Server 2000 Log Shipping Secondary Server Failed

  • Hi,

I have a set-up of LogShipping onto 3 servers, Primary, Secondary (Stand-By DB) and Monitoring servers.

If for no apparent reason, the Secondary Server failed or machine where the stand-by DB sits broke down. What steps do I have to do to be able to rebuild the secondary server (stand-by DB). Can anyone please enlighten me.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Tolitz

in the scenario where your secondary db gets corrupted, the only way out is to take the backup of database from primary server and restore it on secondary server and finally start log shipping again.

  • I could think of the following steps:

    1.Remove logshipping on the primary.

    2.Restore/Reinstall the secondary.

4.Restore the latest Fullbackups of the logshipped DBs.

    3.Reconfigure logshipping.

    Regards,
