OK, old man rant off (crap, 44 is just 3.5 weeks away!)

You're not old!

Personally, I really hope you're not old at 44.

Ditto. I'm 51.

Well, I'm almost 2 decades ahead of you and last time I looked there was at least one threadizen more that a decade ahead of me and his posts didn't seem to come from an old man. I don't just hope 44 isn't old, I know fine well it isn't.

Ok...
"The language is expressive, easily readable and values explicitness. Abbreviations and corrupted spelling should be avoided in variable names"
and the string data type is 'str'

So what is this new language called? I could do with reading about it asit's years since I've had a good belly laugh about programming language design.
I think she said Pluralsight, which sounds like a medical condition to me...

Pluralsight is a training site, with some of the best IT training videos I've found (disclaimer: I have a free membership, MVP perk), including a rapidly increasing collection from our friends at SQLSkills (Paul, Kim, Jon, etc)
Give it a try, you can get a trial period with access to the entire library

Python

I don't have too much beef with the language, but the way the fans talk about it, you'd think it was about to end poverty and bring about world peace.
Learning it cause I'm bored (nothing to do at work today, meetings tomorrow and thursday, new work next week) and because I'm probably going to be doing some work in google's app engine for a friend, and that's python-based.

Besides, more languages = more diversity. No learning is wasted.

Hey Steve (if you're listening), can I indirectly toss some flames into that WIT editorial comments?

Given some of the comments in there, I reckon it's a case of the more flames the merrier. I may have added thrown some oil in there myself. But I'll probably get my wrist slapped if I let myself say clearly what I feel.

Tom

Being in your shoes, I would go right ahead --

- if you suppress yourself, you could suffer a psychosomatic scar, and I - hoping that I also speak for most threadizens - would not like to see that; and

- a discussion forum is not worth a dingo's kidney if distinguished members feel that they would get their wrist slapped for their educated, thought through - and yours are - and sincerely felt opinions.

I restrained myself from being rather insulting. I'd say as long as you don't start swearing or throwing personal insults (however deserved they may feel), should be fine. Of course, this isn't my forum and Steve is off skiing (or snow boarding, or some other sport which involves high speeds and slopes of cold, white stuff) so...

btw, it was the sentence after the one you quoted which really got to me.
