Some of my business users are asking if we can implement report numbers. They feel the report names (that they came up with) are too long and too hard to remember -- so they want a report number (replacing the report name) to make their life easier (ex - RPT-0001). Their current mainframe reports have a numbering scheme, so they want one in our new Reporting Services reports. To me it seems like they're afraid of change (wait, did I just say that)....

Personally, I'm not in favor of the Report Number idea. I feel the report name and report description are sufficient. But then again, I'm just the architect of the project, so what would I know about Reporting Services. Smile

I'm curious if anyone out there has an opinion on the subject. Have you been down this path before? Good, bad, ugly -- I'll take them all.
