unable to save SSIS package "library not registered"

  • Last Week, I was able to use sql server 2005 import data wizard to import data from an access db, and save the package.

This week, when I use the wizard to import data from the same access database, I am able to import the data, however, I am not able to save the package. When the wizard gets to the step "saving", the wizard fails to save the package and gives the error "library not registered".

    Additionally

    - Updates have not been installed in almost a month

    - I have experienced the same error on 3 other servers.

    - I have tried the commands

    regsvr32 msxml6.dll

    regsvr32 msxml3.dll

    regsvr32 dts.dll

-I have restarted the SQL Server Services

-I tried saving the package to file, then importing the file. Get the same error during import.

OS Microsoft Windows NT 5.2 (3790)

    Standard Edition Version 9.00.3054.00

    thanks for any help,

    Alex

  • Additional info.

Last week, another DBA tested an administration software by Idera. The software was supposed to test the security of our sql servers. Well during testing, it found that many of our service logins did not have a password policy enforced. The software then locked all of our service logins, which then brought down serveral production and test envirorments for 20 minutes. Needless to say, we are no longer interested in this software.

I am thinking that this software also made some other changes that we were not aware of.

    Any Ideas?

  • Certainly does sound like the software did some unencountered things to your environment.

I would start with a process of elimination, first stop and start the agents before I go any further, then all SQL related services etc.

I would also consider downloading the latest service packs

    Good luck man!
