Forgive me, but I'm not seeing Nigel Rivett as an MVP on the Microsoft MVP site. Has Nigel retained his MVP?

You can nominate someone at http://www.exceptionaldba.com/
Nigel was not renewed in April 2008 as his work commitments prevented him from contributing substantially to the community in 2007. However he is well qualified, perhaps better than I, to judge the awards and is an MVP in my book. Technically he was an MVP in 2008, though I understand the wording looks funny. MVPs are awarded every quarter, so 1/4 are up for renewal every 3 months.

Nigel is one of the most consistently popular writers on the Simple-Talk site. He has a refreshing way of never taking anything in TSQL for granted, but is always checking and testing things. I've known him for years, and worked with him. He has experience in every type of enterprise, and has done a lot of work for the SQL Server community. If Nigel rates someone highly as a DBA then, yes, that someone is a good DBA.
Best wishes,
Phil Factor
