Permission Error When deploying a cube

  • hi friends,

When i try to deploy the cube, i got an permission denied error

Error1Either the 'CHEMOILUS\vijayalayacholank' user does not have permission to create a new object in 'CAMSSRV14\SQL2005', or the object does not exist.

But actually am having admin permission for that database....I have googled it also..but could not find the solution.....Any ideas mate...share..

    Thanks & regards

    Vijay

  • hmm.. did you try to create a test database/cube manually on the OLAP server? check what happens.. if you are able to, then something to do with this particular cube; if you are not able to, then permission issue..

    Warm Regards,
    Neel aka Vijay.

  • I found this helpful. I had to add myself as an administrator to Analysis Services in the destination server...

  • Please forgive and correct if this is improper protocol, but I'm wondering if anyone from this thread or elsewhere could shed any additional light on this problem.

All these years later, I've encountered exactly the same situation but have tried all of the above recommended solutions to no avail. The DBA made me a sysadmin on our test Analysis Server, I've set all the deployment properties in my project appropriately - processing option=Full, transactional deployment=false, deployment mode=Deploy All,Server=(verified proper path, i.e. 'physical server\instance'), and Database Name=As_test1. I also set the impersonation mode both to service account and then Windows Authentication with my credentials (which I tested out in SQL Server Management Studio, I created a test db with my credentials).

I still get the same error msg: Error -1055391738 : Either the '(my credentials)' user does not have permission to create a new object in '(physical server\instance)', or the object does not exist.

    Deploy complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings.

    Grateful for any suggestions.

    Jeff

  • Problem solved. The answer was indeed up above and I missed it. The DBA had added me as a System Administrator as he said, but not to Analysis Services. I remember being warned about this a couple of months ago. The prob is now fixed and hopefully this lesson is branded into my brain.:)

  • How did your DBA added you as a System Administrator in to Analysis Services. ? ....

    thanks

  • I believe if you are Local Admin on the machine itself, then you would be a server admin with SSAS.

If you are not in the server's Administrator group, you (or your DBA) can right click on the SSAS instance, select Properties, go to the Security Page, under "Select a Page" and add your domain acct or SQL login to the Server Administrators section.

  • It could be a 2008 elevation of privilege problem. Close all the applications you are using to build/view the cube. Then right click on the icon and 'run as administrator' and try again.

I got the same problem by running the 2005 tools on a 2008R2 machine. I fixed it by 'run as administrator'

    good luck!

  • Excellent, I had the same problem.

Just running BIDS 2008 as an Administrator solved the issue...

    Thank you

    Michael

  • I solved by running the bids as..."run as administrator". It worked.

  • It is a best and easiest solution that I ever got Thanks !

This worked for me as well and my domain account was added as an admin user for SSAS 2012 3 years ago when I initially installed SS20012 but somehow between then and now my SID changed because the 1 user that was showing when I went to add myself was a SID consisting of numbers, no name. Don't know if this is technically called an Orphan SID or not but that's what I call it.

    @bob-2,

That link no longer works but I did find one that does which I believe maybe the same as what was previously hosted on forums.microsoft.com :
