I am taking care of a data warehouse and process couples of cubes everyday. A new user report she can't manupulate data in an excel pivot table which connects to one of the cubes.
I had already add this user as a standalone user in the Role group on the SSMS but she still can't get anything.
The error message is like this:
"Initialization of the data source failed.
Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available, and then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new data source to connect to the database."
I don't have any problem to open this excel pivot table and neither do other users.
This pivot table was created by another user and email this pivot table to this end user.
Sorry for my English.
Thank you in advance
Qiang

Perhaps this user is in a different network location that is preventing the access?

Mark Beringer (5/21/2008) Try adding the user to the Analysis Server Properties Security page.... I check the Analysis Server Properties Security page but nobody is in there, even though they all have access to this pivot table.

| Also check the data connection credentials and make sure that connector is providing good enough credentials;)
