There is a SQL 2005 SP3, it's called SQL 2008!

Unfortunately Microsoft don't view it that way and ask for a new license fee!

Got this from our Rep yesterday in response to a question on SP3:

"I’m told that there is not a plan for SP3 at this time. From our perspective, there isn’t big enough need as of yet."

That is quite disappointing, but not really surprising. There is a lot of inertia to overcome to get that perspective changed, so if you haven't voted yet, please do so! Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dan B

How many votes we need to get Microsoft to do something?

I think that more than only getting votes, we should make a list of bugs and send it to Microsoft!

Oh, there are a ton of bugs. As SQL Server MVP Hugo Kornelius blogged, Microsoft has said there hasn't been enough feedback requesting it. That's why it's important to go to the Connect site and vote for it.
