Since recently graduating college, I am finding my current job as a DBA not as rewarding as I would like. It seems that what we do most, is handle backups, restores, and security. Not to badmouth being a DBA, in fact I truly enjoy my current job and the people I work with, but there does not seem to be enough career advancement opportunity for me. My original intention out of college, graduating with an MIS degree, was to get into the project management field. However, it seems that quite a few project management 1 titles require at least two years of relevant work experience. However, getting these first few years seems to be the most difficult part. Does anybody have any ideas how to mesh the various aspects of being a DBA with project management? Also, does anybody have any career advice currently to help me in moving into the project management field? Finally, thank you for your help.
