the target principal name is incorrect cannot generate sspi context

  • I am able to login and access the DB when I login into the server but when I use SSMS which is installed on my machine, I get this error "the target principal name is incorrect. Cannot generate sspi context. Any help on this please?

    That error is typically a Kerberos authentication issue. Often not too fun to troubleshoot. This MS blog walks through many of the steps you can use to troubleshoot the error:
