Upgraded to 2014 from 2012, what happened to my colors?

  • We recently upgraded from 2012 to 2014 at work and, ever since the upgrade, my colors have changed in SSMS.

For example, in 2012, in my queries, table names, field names, variables, etc were all in a teal / cyan color.

Now, in 2014, they are all black.

I've gone through all of the font color settings and I cannot find where to change this back to cyan. I even exported my settings from 2012 and imported them into 2014 and that still did not help.

Please do not tell me I am now stuck with this black text when I'm so used to the cyan colored text.

    Thanks.

  • In SSMS go to Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors > Plain Text and set your desired Item Foreground.

  • Thanks. Now I feel a bit stupid.

But, I'm looking at the settings in 2012 right now and Plain Text is set to the default setting which shows black even though my text is teal.
