  • You're too modest. It's not just for newcomers. Us old folks forget the simple things and can use reminders now and then.

  • Bob:

Love it! so elegant.... thanks for sharing.

  • I have to ask... just what is a Data Therapist? 🙂

  • Of course, for user-defined periods which are used often, the best thing to do is to add these calculations into the generation of your calendar table ( http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/calendar/145206/ )...

  • How can I argue with that? 😀

Some people have yet to implement a calendar table though. Even those who have might get asked for a period which they did not anticipate, like dividing the year into ten 35-day periods, and some holiday leftovers.

Thanks for paying attention, Mr. Knox.

  • ask the deep questions,

    massage the data,

coax out of it what others can't get to,

it's my job to know the database structure, where the data are coming from, where they get sent too....

basically a DBA with a focus on the data visualization.

    I enjoy what I do.

  • I'll bet you do. Sounds like a dream job.

Thanks for answering, promptly. I was having trouble ceasing to imagine a tiny little couch for bytes.
