Question about SQL 2012 service packs and CU.

    SQL server 2012 - Latest service pack 3. after that SP3 cumulative updates are released CU1, CU2, CU3, CU4 and CU5.

    one of the SQL 2012 instance already updated SP3 and version is 11.0.6020.0 after that I want to update cumulative patches.

    can we update CU5 directly (CU5, will it includes all CUs) or update one by one all patches in existing SP3?

    Pls. clarify.

    Cumulative updates are exactly that - (cumulative). So, you can apply the latest (last) CU after a service pack was released and be assured you are getting all the CUs. Does that answer your question?

    Yes. I get all CUs 1,2,3, 4 and 5.

    Thanks for updates, I can update latest CU5 only and no need to apply all CUs 1,2,3 and 4 of SP3.
