I have tried google but come up empty.
Documentation states the following when importing into KB after datacleansing project

Values that Will Be Imported
The following values will be imported from a project into a domain:
Only string values are imported to the domain.

Is this a DQS project? If so it's listed that only string values are imported. This article lists values that will be imported and values that won't be imported:

I don't know firsthand but a lot of apps that do imports for similar things do that so as to avoid a plethora of conversion issues.
