Mirroring in Stand by mode

  • Hi All,

Is that possible stand by mode in mirroring ? if not then tell the reasons as it not being put in stand by mode......

Thanks in advance and post me your suggestions.

  • No it's not. Mirroring requires that the DB be restored WITH NORECOVERY.

Standby does a partial recovery and writes what it rolled back to a file in order to make the DB readable. When the next log backup is restored, that gets redone and then the log gets replayed. Mirroring is 'continual' restores, so it's not possible to have the DB in a read only state while there are log records are continually being restored.
