You sure you have proper installation media?? Whats the size ?

Try running it with administrator privilege , or using cmd

If you're already running it as a local administrator, then it should run and at least tell you something. Check your running processes and make sure there's nothing in there that's just being slow. If that's the case, then you probably don't want to install SQL Server on an underpowered machine, so take a look at your hardware. If that's not the case, I'd download the setup files fresh from Microsoft.

If you have the correct SQL install media, the most likely problem is that you are missing some pre-requisite software.

You should check the documentation for the required pre-reqs. The most likely one you are missing if you are installing on W2012 or above is .Net 3.5. There is a special install process for installing .Net 3.5 on W2012 and above, Google can help you find this.

As we are all having a guess at your problem, did you try running the setup.exe? It does nothing until you start it.
