Unable to connect locally to SQL Server but able to connect from remote machine

    Team,

    In one of our production server, we were not able to connect locally through management studio but we were able to connect from different server with management studio from different servers. At the same time, few applications were also not able to connect. Please advice.

    What error message do you get when the connection fails? Is there anything in the errorlog? What protocol are you using both locally and remotely to connect with SSMS?

    I am getting the "Network-related or instance-specific error occurred" while trying to connect locally. But the SQL Service is up and running and I am able to connect from a different server with the same credentials.
