My question today is, since I am an 'accidental DBA,' having multiple other roles (website administration), I was wondering if anyone might have some ideas on this?
My question has to do with troubleshooting/testing the SMTP server in IIS8 for Windows Server 2012.
There is a Microsoft tool called "SMTPdiag", which troubleshoots connection problems, and I was looking for anyone/a community who might have experience with using it.
Backgroung: my mail tests, which consist of manually dropping a text file 'mail message' into the "Inetpub\Pickup" folder, result in the mail instantly being transferred to the "Queue" folder, then being held in the "Queue" folder and moving no further. I've performed tests with Telnet, and I've sent email messages successfully that way, but there appears to be some possible permission problem with the Queue folder.
Thanks for any ideas.
