The backup finishes well. During copying it says the "Network Resource"could not be found.
I checked the file it is trying to copy is there.
I am able to manually copy the files and run the restore step of the job without any problems.
To rule out existence of old ghosts, I even created a new database and setup the LS job.
That too fails at the copy stage.
I could not check permissions since our service account cannot log on to the box....I do suspect however that, it is the problem.
Anybody can contribute an answer without pointing me to another link or google?

You will need to confirm permissions. Check with the sysadmin to see if they can help confirm the permissions.

Thanks for quick responses.
The service runs under domain account. The account is local admin on the box and an SA for now.
Hope this helps.

one more thing.
There are three phases in the job
lsbackup- works
lscopy- fails
lsrestore- kinda works because there are no files to apply; since copy failed.

Correct, there are 3 jobs for every LS plan, if the backup fails the restore will simply have nothing to do.
Just because you're account is admin on the server does not mean it can access every folder\file. It is possible to prevent an admin from accessing folders\files. However, as an admin they can seize ownership at any time, if NTFS auditing is enabled this would be tracked though.
Thoroughly check the permissions for the service account at the share and folder level

I found the problem and resolved it. Not sure why the problem is...
The backup location was \\ip_address\backuplocation.
After a network glitch somehow that translation of ip_address got lost.
I just replaced it with the server name and everything started working again.
what a pain...
Thanks to all of you who took time to talk about this.
Really appreciate this. No wonder our community is so much better than Ora...
Cheers
