Sharepoint error, Query did not run or the database could not be opened

  • I posted this on the SharePoint.StackExchange site, without any responses. So I though I'd try it here.

I am trying to support a user who uses a SharePoint 'report' (ie Excel SS). The report/ss is based on an SQL Server 2008 View. The view definition was altered to source data from different tables within the same database approximately 2 months ago, and this user has had a problem since then. The view name did not change. The view opens without a problem(for me) in SSMS.

The user has been added to the appropriate group for database permissions. I am able to refresh the Report/ss without any problem. He clicks on the Excel icon for the report, chooses Edit (vs Read-only) and the report opens. He sees the Security Warning at the top of the spreadsheet and clicks on the 'Options' box to Enable This Content. Then he gets the message 'Query did not run or the Database could not be opened' . The Server Administrator and I can both open this Report/SS without a problem. It seems like a permissions issue, but the Server Administrator and I are out of ideas to fix this. Neither of us has a SharePoint background. Any suggestions?
