Hey all,
Finally working on my certification. Just passed 70-462 (Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases) today on my first shot, woohoo! I don't think 70-461 (Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012) should be all that bad either.
Planning on test #3 and I'm a bit nervous, 70-463 (Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server 2012). Living the life of a DBA, I don't know how well I'll fair on this ... especially being that I've literally done nothing with data warehousing! I know some basic ideas and concepts, but not much else.
Being that you can substitute 70-463 for 70-411 (Administering Windows Server 2012), I'm curious if anyone here has any feedback on the matter that has done either or? I'd like to think I'm fairly competent when it comes to Windows Server, especially in comparison to data warehousing.

First of all, congrats!, good job on the 462 cert. Must say I don't know the 70-463 in detail but I do know the subject and I would not recommend a novice having a go at it without the knowledge and experience unless it was a life changing situation.

One could, from a "cold start" and doing nothing else, gain "good working knowledge" on the subject in 3-4 months, at least enough to skim the surface (entry level).

not sure what you mean by substituting 70-411 for 70-463, but if you are working towards MCSA SQL Server 2012 then 70-463 is required. I'll agree with Eirikur's point that attempting it without any prior experience would not be advised. I had about two years of small SSIS and SSAS project experience and studied with the Microsoft training kit prior to taking 70-463.

Will try practice tests for both, but was trying to see who else went this path and/or had experience with either or.

I stand corrected. was not aware that this was an option. I probably would have went for 70-411 if I had known. The way I look at it, most SQL installation will not use SSIS, DQS,MDS, etc but all SQL Server instances will be installed on windows server.

Hey all,
Took a big break from this effort and just knocked out my 461.
Want to strike while the iron is hot and get the last one done. Looks like you can use either 411 or 412 as a substitute to 463.
Anyone have any feedback on which is less painful?
