Hey guys, I was in a meeting yesterday and someone brought up the possibility of using Amazon Redshift to implement our data warehouse. I'm doing my best not to knee jerk react and say no and do some research. I have several reservations about using it.
1. If we decide that wee want to bring the warehouse back to SQl server can we do it?
2. Its a subscription where you can buy month to month, 1 year term or 3 year term. I'm a big proponent of buying than leasing. Especially if we can't bring it back in house. If we can't we are at their control and they could charge anything they want.
3. Security, with all of the data breaches in the past few months is Redshift stood the test of time? Is it secure?
4. Performance tuning: can we handle the tuning ourselves?
Have any of you had any experiences, good or bad, Amazon redshift?
