I have a 2005 instance which has been around for years. Suddenly after a week ago (coinciding, though probably not connected to, a MS security update) the local instance will no longer connect to the database. I get the message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server but an error occurred during the login process (provider shared memory provider, error 0, no process is on the onther end of the pipe) (Microsoft SQL server erro 233).
Pipes and shared memory are fully enabled. No changes were made in configuration.
There is no problem connecting SSMS from ANOTHER machine, but the local connection won't work.
Any thoughts about this?
