ShapeFiles (.shp) question

  Hello, this may be a n00b question and I apologise if it is / it it's in the wrong place.

  Exactly where am I meant to find .shp files for the UK?

  I have tried the Office For National Statistics (their website is impressively unfriendly), however the map I downloaded from them gives me this error: "The spatial data type 1819240048 is not supported or this is not a valid ESRI Shapefile."

  I have tried the Ordnance Survey: I downloaded an 'OS VectorMap' in ESRI Shape format, however there isn't a .shp file in the resulting download.

  I feel like I have fallen at the first hurdle, I mean I have tried the two most reputable institutions in the country as far as I am aware for such data and neither seem to be compatible with Report Builder.

  Finally, I am using SQL Server 2008r2, and I believe Report Builder 3.0 (I am connecting to it remotely). Hope this helps, any suggestions are gratefully received.
