Hey everyone. I'm planning on taking my 70-461 exam at the end of the month and wanted to take a good practice exam to test my skills and see what I need to focus on. I took the exam that comes with the 70-461 training kit today and it seems to be too simple/easy and I did not get any questions on Indexes or XML, so I don't think this is a good exam to test my knowledge. Does anyone know of any free practice exams out there? I don't want to use any exam dumps as I want to know the material, not memorize questions, however I do not want to spend the money on Kaplan/Transcender as my wife and I are trying to pay off our student loans quick and want ever available dime to go towards that. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I do not know of any free exam software for this exam, but I can highly recommend Transcender - they even have a package deal where you can get the 70-461 through 70-463 with a discount. I used Transcender for all three exams and that worked out great.
Note: Try to read the books from MS and get as much hands-on experience as you can before trying out the test-exams, this way you get the most bang for your buck with regards to finding out where you are lacking in understanding/experience.

Careful. Using brain dumps is cheating. If you get caught, your exams get invalidated. I think it's ALL of them, so it could be costly.

I agree, pietlinden, you should never use dumps and I mentioned in my post that I did not want to go that route. It IS cheating, plus this is going to be my future career, I want to know the material

I just advise you to check yourself in the online test. It's free . I do not use the answers in the exam, but thank you :hehe:

Never use and rely on DUMPs, study, practice, that's it.
The exam could be simple for few people, but complex for newbies, it depends upon on what level you are.

Thanks Manoj, I had actually stumbled across that early on in my studying and while I didn't use it I did think it was a good resource. And I'm glad to say, without brain dumps, I successfully passed the exam, and then some, abut 3 weeks ago. I do highly recommend Lapland self test software. The practice exam and flash cards were great resources to find out areas you didnt understand quite as well. Thanks for all of the tips!

Thanks for sharing about various types of practice exams and suggestions for books to be guarded for same. One of the most appreciable help given by my cousin was to suggest online tutorials. Sections and examples of MBE Practice Questions were covered daily and most useful were weekly mock tests.
