Question about filestream

  • Hello --

The filestream drive on our host server, Windows 2012R2 Standard, is down to less than ten percent free space on a one terabyte partition. Our planned course of action is to increase the size of the partition to two terabytes. To preserve the data, after the SQL database is stopped, I was planning on copying the contents of the filestream drive to another drive. If the worst happens, the idea is to copy the contents back to the original location, and then restart the server.

Is this a good way of preserving the data in the event of a failure, or is there a better way?

    Thanks.
