Im having a bit of trouble getting my head round this one. I understand what these are and i am trying to utilize this type of fact table to cover our purchase order status flow.
Im tyring to build the ETL for this from scratch (cant find any examples of etl for thisonline) and getting confused. Am i right in thinking the first thing i need to do is check that each record from my source is not already in the fact table, this will tell me if this is an Update or insert.
i this is correct then how do you do the lockup? the target fact table only has the surrogate keys where as the source table has the natural keys?
any help welcome.
