Hi All,

I have two DMZ's- a new DMZ in which we hosted our Database server which has sql 2012 named instance installed on static port other than 1433
In another old DMZ we have our sharepoint and webservers hosted.

SO our network team has provided me 2 IP's for each server.

For my Database server i have one External IP(10.100.xx.55) and one Internal IP(10.100.yy.55)

So after i install SQL server named instance and changed the port - i am able to connect successfully from the same machine using SSMS or UDL connection test.

When i try to connect from webserver/sharepoint server which are in other DMZ - which IP should i use to connect or using which port i do the telnet connection test?

Should i be using Internal IP or External IP.

I am thinking that i will be performing UDL test using External IP,portname as servername\instancename,14345- Is this correct?
Any suggestions. Please advise.

How you connect will depend on your DMZ and firewall configuration. They may have the firewalls configured to allow traffic between the two on the internal network.

Check with your networking group to verify.
