Adding a failed node back to cluster

  • Hi,

This is on SQL Server 2005 / Windows 2003 environment.

Node 1 of a 2-node cluster crashed, db is up and running on node 2.

Node 1 has been replaced/rebuilt, and it has been evicted from the cluster.

My question is, should the node be added back first in the cluster, that is, in Cluster Administration by the server engineer? Or can the dba proceed with installing SQL Server on the new node (through Control Panel > Add Programs, from mode 2) and this will configure the cluster setup for it as well?

    Thank you

  • Node has to be added back to cluster first, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181075(v=sql.90).aspx
