Hi Experts,
How do we turn off/on hyperthreading in sql server 2008 R2 ?
Is there any parameters to set while turning it on or off ?
I googled a bit regarding hyperthreading and confused, to enable or disable it 🙂 .
Any suggestions from your own experience ?
Thanks,
Smith.

Hyperthreading is OS option and you can enable\disable it from BIOS.
In sql server you can set processor affinity,IO affinity ,worker threads etc.

Hyperthreading and its recommendation to turn it on or off has flip-flopped a number of times since the first Pentium Xeon chipset. We turn it off by default and have achieved good results. However a lot of the documentation now says 'your milage will vary' meaning you should performance/load test with it on and off and make your own decision.
